Located to get the best out of Cornwall

Oakridge, St. Mellion is situated about 15 miles from Plymouth, Dartmoor, Bodmin and Looe - fantastically located for getting the best out of everything that Cornwall has to offer. A short drive takes you to beaches, National Trust properties, bike trails, karting, tree surfing and so much more.


Golf

Make use of the prestigious Jack Nicklaus 'Signature' course or the Kernow course at St. Mellion International Resort, take a short drive to China Fleet Country Club or travel further afield to tackle the stunning courses of St Enodoc, Saunton Sands or Trevose on the north coast of Cornwall. 


Cycling

Take a bike ride through the quiet country lanes of South East Cornwall, follow one of the family friendly trails dotted around the countryside or go for more challenging rides across the moors or Tamar Valley.


Walking & COUNTRYSIDE

Stroll through acres of deserted countryside or follow routes across Dartmoor and Bodmin. Rame Head peninsula offers great coast walks and amazing views and is only about 30 minutes away. Closer to home (about a 15 minute drive away), the Tamar Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that offers an unspoilt, beautiful and dramatic landscape that is rich in wildlife .


BEACHES & Surfing

The nearest beach, Whitsand Bay, is a 25 minute drive away but there's lots more further down the coast and into Devon. The beaches of South East Cornwall offer a quieter and more relaxed setting for surfers than the more dramatic coastline of the north coast.


Eating & drinking

Take lazy lunches in stunning countryside pubs or venture to the seaside to indulge in some of the best fish and chips you'll find in the country. The Weary Friar public house is a local favourite serving good food and ales, and is walkable from Oakridge along quiet country lanes.


National Trust houses & gardens

Cotehele, a medieval house with a fabulous collection of armour, textiles and furniture from the period is only 10-15 minutes away. Lanhydrock, a magnificent house that charts life in Victorian times, is about a 40 minute drive away from the Oakridge estate. 


Attractions

The world-famous Eden Project and magnificent Lost Gardens of Heligan are within an hour’s drive. The Bodmin & Wenford Railway is a Standard Gauge Railway that operates mainly steam locomotives through March to December on a 13 mile round trip through beautiful countryside.


Villages

There are some lovely local villages with great pubs nearby - including Pillaton, Hatt, Landulph and Pentillie. The traditional fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, with their narrow streets and picturesque harbours, are only a 30 to 40 minute drive away.
